Clothing ideas and inspiration for Summer Family Photoshoots in Buckinghamshire

In Buckinghamshire we have beautiful woods, hills and meadows that clearly reflect the seasons and I always think of nature’s palette when advising clients on ‘what to wear’.

Carefully considering the clothes you wear on the day of your family photoshoot can really impact your final images and my aim is always to create natural, timeless images and special memories of a moment in time. Images that will be hung on your walls and fondly reflected upon for many years.

In summer, warm pinks and yellows look beautiful, as do cool sky blues, mints and aqua green/blue colours.

I always advise to avoid really bold colours, as well as characters/ large logos on clothing. These will put the focus on the clothes rather on you, which is the exact opposite of what we’re hoping to achieve.

My top tip would be to stick to mostly to neutral colours and then choose 1 or 2 seasonal colours that everyone could choose to implement into their outfit. People often go for a blue/navy and then neutral colours like grey or beige, and then add either warm pink, or mint green to contrast. What you are aiming for ideally is a cohesive, consistent colour scheme without looking too ‘matchy’.

And finally, make sure you are all comfortable! Your clothes should reflect who you are and be truly authentic to your story.

There are some great examples of summer styles of clothes that work well on my Pinterest board. Take a look there for inspiration on what to wear for your summer family photoshoot.
